Anna Rusakowa

Anna Rusakowa

I was tweeting about her a while back: Anna Rusakova.
A gifted illustrator with a beautiful clear line, almost cartoonesque.
On Behance.net you find her collection of Moleskin drawings.

To get a glimpse of this amazing book, that is really hard to get your hands on, may be located in your local library (if you're lucky!)

It’s a kind of illustrated thesaurus of an alien world, with mysterious pictures and  characters,
creatures that look like they are from this planet as we know it but are definitely not.
Like a document from the seventeeth century.
A scientist or traveler documenting the unknown creatures encoutered.
Trees
that can swim and rainbow machines that make perfect sense.

Anna’s intriguing collection of drawings about the Great Sperm Whale are amazing like that codex.
Stories with hands and Mandala’s and decorated with beautiful detail. Like you can see here XL Brilliant.

Anna’s work is really magical. She creates beautiful incomprehensible connections, in purely perfect drawings. Sometimes a little photo of herself in between, a smiling face with short blonde hair and very Russian, the artist performing in her own show. Collections of lucky charms from all over the world, or origami paper folds and birds. A world of her own in which we are granted a short glimpse. I’m a fan.
